9th Day Sailing

Well it was lovely to have a lay (lazy) day on board with little to do but please ourselves so we didn't go to breakfast till after 8 as there was no rush. There were a few talks and demos available and Eric went to one on the history of the river while I had a nap as a bit nauseous from the very slight movement. Lunch was American Barbecue style and was really good with chicken, ribs, salads followed by delicious apple pie with ice cream and cream. Oh, and corn on the cob too. Everything was so very good. There are snacks and drinks available most of the time. We had the same duo entertaining tonight on banjo and fiddle - very good. We are still trying to receive emails and send and don't know what the problem is as some people are lucky to get signal. There is no small river boat traffic at all as the river current is too dangerous for small craft (they can get sucked under) so they use the lakes and other waterways around. However we see a lot of dumb barges being pushed along by really strong tow boats, sometimes up to 70 empty or 35 filled - some feat! tomorrow ( Monday ) we do a tour of Vicksburg and are tied up here tonight and depart on the tour at 8.30am. We then sail at 12.30pm.

  1. Just a quick note because it's 11 pm. Thanks for your blogs, great coverage of your trip so far. Your email problems may be related to signal issues? Not sure where you are logging onto WiFi but also be aware that there may be download limits per login which could be adding to your problems. Did you get what you expected from AAPT with your cellular because I would have expected that you would have had good coverage right across the US? Apart from your Bigpond issue there really shouldn't be any great difference now to using your iPad in Oz. Let's know if you have more detail please.

  2. funny! Sunrise are currently on an AAPT cruise down the Mississippi River at the moment, so we are seeing a little snapshot of some of the places as they go through as well.

Went out for dinner with Paul and Dan tonight and I will be catching up with Bondy, Vass & JC tomorrow night for a few birthday drinks. Looks like you are enjoying the trip. Not much else to report from this end. love Geoff

  4. Hi mum and dad, all of your sons caught up with each other this evening. We had a great time over dinner. We're enjoying your notes and photos. Have you been doing any reading on your kindle? Tammie rang Geoff tonight and Geoff had me answer his phone. Tammie thought I was Geoff when I answered in a sultry voice,I thought I had a squeaky voice. ;) lots of laughs on both ends.
Have fun. Love Susie and Paul
