Well, here we are ensconced in the Peabody Hotel - very posh and elegant in all aspects. Even the electrical cord has a cloth cover over it! There is beautiful wallpaper in all the hallways with gorgeous mirrors and hall stands. The curtains in our room are heavily embroidered and there are no less than 7 pillows on the bed. If they are as comfortable as the pillows at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville, we won't have any complaints. We left Nashville at 9.30 in light rain and drove to Franklin where we stopped for a walk around the trendy town centre and then 2 hours later we stopped at Jackson at the Casey Jones train display and Museum where we again had a wander and lunch at The Country Store there. The store had a myriad of goods to buy from jewellery to Old style Soap and gifts of all kinds as well as a Fudge area, a Buffet and a Cafe. Outside there was even a Counselling Service. However I didn't see anyone taking a turn. Oh, and there was a mini golf course too, just outside the village church! The countryside was ever so green all the way with beautiful trees lining the highway all day. We crossed the Tennessee River (it made Brisbane R look rather small.
We arrived here in Memphis about 3,30pm and our rooms were ready so after we found them - the lifts were fairly slow- we walked downtown to the famous Beale St to see what it was all about and the street was sealed off for the music tonight. Our group went to the original B B Kings Blues Club for a buffet dinner followed by the music of the B B King Allstars Band. They were very very good of course and we listened for an hour (both of us had tissues in our ears). Then we did a walk down the two blocks where all the live music was playing at the other venues and had a listen there too and took in all the weird and wonderful sights both in dress and dance moves. So now we are back in our hotel at 11pm and we have to have our cases ready by 7.30 and I want to have Brekky around 6.45 so I had better head to bed. Hope to have a few photos in next Blog.
Happy Mothers Day Mum!
ReplyDeleteAre you nice to the other kids on tour ?
Keep those tissues in your handbag, not your ears. Your both there to soak up the atmosphere.
We love the blogging, keep it up.
Lots of love Susie & Paul
Once again sounds like a very busy day. Are the hotels part of the tour are they? Was the music too loud for you?
