10 th Day Vicksburg

Well today was a tour informing us of the Civil War activity in these parts. Whew! We had a 3 hour tour all about the north and south and really, all I wanted to know was which line was which and who won, but it went on and on and round and round we went getting more and more confused with all the details. When we got to the Visitor Centre they had a good video presentation but we did not have time to watch it as the ship was ready to up anchor again. Oh well! There were 110,000 troops from north and only 30,000 from the south. A lot of those who were wounded died from infection and from eating and drinking contaminated food and water as they had come from good clean living conditions and couldn't cope with the changes. The doctors also didn't understand about hygiene etc. We had a talk re this section of the river from our on board expert and then it was time for Cocktail Hour. I reckon we should get a refund as we seem to be mainly drinking Orange Juice while others are into the free alcohol. Tonight we had a Negro duo on board and they were pretty good. Tomorrow we do a tour here in the town of Natchez so until then Goodnight
